Major feature:This major, originated from an undergraduate major of fishery machinery in Xiamen Fisheries College in 1973. Being a demonstration site of the "National first-class major" and the first-class featured majors in Fujian Province, it is one of the new model majors of application-oriented talent training. The major cultivates innovative talents with solid professional knowledge and outstanding application-oriented engineering practice ability. Graduates are generally well received by employers, with an employment rate of over 98%.

This major has a strong faculty with 9 professors, 7 associate professors, 11 doctors, including 1 full-time academician and 1 leading talent. The teaching and research team of academician Zhao Zhenye focuses on the most cutting-edge technology in the development of the world manufacturing industry and leads the faculty members of mechanical disciplines to carry out research on fatigue-resistant manufacturing of key components of high-end equipment.

The major implements the philosophy of "establishing the school with the spirit of Jiageng and cultivating people with sincerity and perseverance". It is responsive to the national "One Belt, One Road" strategic targets and satisfies to serve the economic and social development needs of the West China Sea region. By cross-fertilizing multiple disciplines such as material , fatigue and manufacturing sciences, the major has built a talent training center for fatigue-resistant manufacturing of key components of high-end equipment; by adhering to the cultivation concept of student-centered and student ability output-oriented, the major has formed a "trinity" cultivation system of industry-university-research, and constructed a "new engineering" training model of applied innovative talents for high-end equipment to meet the needs of students at different levels and provide students a strong guarantee for high-quality employment and further study after graduation.

Training objectives:Objectives is to cultivate socialist builders and successors with comprehensive development of moral, intellectual, physical, art, and labor, and with a good sense of social responsibility and professional ethics, and to cultivate the applied talents with innovative spirit, being able to adapt to the development needs of the machinery industry, equip with engineering practice capabilities and the basic ability to solve complex engineering problems in the mechanical field, and be able to engage in such mechanical engineering and its related industries as mechanical design and manufacturing, mechanical system testing and control and other aspects of applied research and business management.

Core curriculum:Engineering Drawing, Electrical and Electronics, Theoretical Mechanics, Material Mechanics, Hydraulic Transmission, Theory of Machines and Mechanisms, Mechanical Design, Mechanical Manufacturing Technology, Control Engineering Fundamentals, Sensors and Detection Technology, Engineering Materials and Molding Technology, Applied Topics Practice, etc.

Graduation prospects:Graduates could beengaged in mechanical engineering and its related industries on mechanical design and manufacturing, mechanical system testing and control, and other aspects of applied research and business management.
